What Is Programmatic SEO?

Programmatic SEO is how you build hundreds of pages without writing each by hand. Done well it captures huge swathes of demand. Done lazily it floods the web with thin pages nobody wants.

The short version

Programmatic SEO is the practice of generating large numbers of web pages at scale by combining a page template with a structured data set, in order to target many similar, often long tail, search queries.

Where it works well

  • Location pages for many areas

  • Product or comparison pages from a catalogue

  • Data driven pages where each variation is genuinely useful

The risk

Scale without value creates thin, duplicate pages that hurt more than help. Each page still needs a real reason to exist. The technical build matters too, which is why we treat it as part of development as well as content.

FAQ

Is programmatic SEO against Google's guidelines?

Not inherently. The issue is thin, low value, mass produced pages. If each page genuinely helps a searcher, scale is fine.
