What Is Technical SEO?

Technical SEO is the plumbing. Nobody compliments it, everybody notices when it breaks. You can write the best page on the internet, but if engines cannot crawl or render it, it may as well not exist.

The short version

Technical SEO is the practice of optimizing your website's infrastructure so search engines can crawl, render, and index it efficiently, covering things like site speed, mobile readiness, crawlability, structured data, and clean code.

What it includes

  • Crawlability and a clean indexing setup

  • Site speed and Core Web Vitals

  • Mobile readiness and a logical site structure

  • Structured data, canonical tags, and tidy redirects

Why it matters more than people think

Most content never gets traffic. Ahrefs studied billions of pages and found that about 96.55 percent receive no organic search traffic from Google at all. Technical problems are a common reason a perfectly good page lands in that silent majority, which is why our SEO work audits the foundations first.

FAQ

Do I need technical SEO if my content is great?

Yes. Great content with broken technical foundations is invisible content. The two are not a choice, they work together.
